Miami Adventures: Part I

Sunday afternoon, we got back from Miami and I seriously crashed.  We got home after 3 ½ days of vacation and my body needed sleep. We got home around 5:30 and I fell asleep for just about 3 hours, only to eat dinner and fall back asleep.

It was an incredible and yet exhausting vacation and it definitely wasn’t long enough.

First view of Miami

We arrived in Miami on Wednesday night around 10pm and got to out hotel around 10:30. After a full day of work and then a half day of travel I was excited to see our beautiful hotel lobby.  It was beautiful and cool in comparison to the humid heat outside. The hotel was so pretty and the staff so welcoming that night.

A little bubbly
We got to our room and were greeted by congratulations and a complimentary champagne for our honeymoon.  It was so lovely and our view overlooking to pool and ocean was incredible so we decided to do a quick Walgreens run for sunblock and snacks and then spent the evening in our room with the view.
Our first view

It was a lovely way to start our mini moon.
Our Daylight view looked like a postcard!

chilling as the sun joined us
The next day we had a slow start.  We got up and had breakfast at the hotel (as we did almost every morning there). It was a cloudy, rainy morning to start but by early afternoon, the weather cleared enough for us to make ourselves comfy by the pool.  We grabbed some drinks and sat in our chairs making a mini video and taking pictures. It was a little hazy but still hot enough for a swim.
That first dip was so wonderful and relaxing and as the sun came into full swing we retreated back to our blankets for some reading and napping.
Just chilling by the pool: no big deal
Eating some flowers
And eventually pictures of some mischievous wildlife.
The best was the iguana that came to join us. He eventually walked right up to the pool.  We thought he wanted to go for a swim but instead he just needed to relieve himself… and make a big mess!!  It was so funny.
Once it got too hot we decided to head back inside to avoid the sunburns, and on the way we found two mischievous parrots to make friends with.  One was blue and the other red. The red one was a little more aloof while the blue was quite interested in being a spectacle. It was a lot of fun to interact with them.
Pretending to be normal

I had to climb the tree
We didn’t do super much else that day until dinner
For dinner, we dressed up and headed over to Joe’s Stone Crab.  I’m just going to say it was amazing! It was so amazing that I wrote another post about it here.

After dinner, we walked over to Wet Willie's which is about a 15 minute walk.  I made it ¾ of the way in heels and then had to switch to my flats to make it there.  In fairness, I have not walked in heels in the longest time (not even for the wedding!!) so that’s why I brought flats with me.
We eventually made it over to Wet Willie’s for some incredibly alcoholic slushies.  You can read more about it here. We had a lot of fun!
They were really tasty and after 1 each we were ready to walk back to the hotel… slowly.
Just hanging at Joe's
It was such a fun night hearing the street music and watching the people on the strip. Eventually we made it to the boardwalk and got to enjoy the sounds of the ocean waves as we enjoyed the starlight.
What a beautiful night!
The only thing I didn’t like was the humidity.  Oh man, even at 11 o’clock at night I was sweating!  I don’t know how Floridians do it every day and night!
